Day 10, to Belorado

We started to walk at dawn. It’s been so interesting to start walking when it still is dark, and see it getting light, then see the beautiful, soft dawn colours in the sky, and finally see the sun come up. The world slowly starts looking as I am used to see it.

The one “problem” with this is that the Camino generally goes east to west, away from sunrise. You have to stop and turn around to enjoy it.

It’s a good idea to look back sometimes

We left La Rioja today and crossed into Castilla y León.

The landscape is changing. From vineyards everywhere to softer hillsides with fields of wheat. Many fields of wheat. The hills look almost like yellowish-green sand dunes. The sky is getting bigger, it seems at least.

We made it to Belorado by about 3 in the afternoon. The rest of the day was uneventful. The albergue is comfortable. Tomorrow on to Burgos.

“Ultreia!” This is a greeting on the Camino and means “onward!” The answer is “Suseia!”, which means “and upward!”
